Dr Troy Gordon
Dr Troy Gordon is the Director and has been involved with Syracuse London since 2007, first as adjunct professor and since 2012 as Academic Director. He earned a BA from the University of Puget Sound, and an MA and PhD
in English Language & Literature and Women’s Studies from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. From 2001-2006 he lectured at UCLA, and from 2007-2012 he served as Head of the Media & Communications Department and later as Associate Dean at Hult International Business School in London.
Dr Gordon specializes in literature, film and gender studies, and also taught a course at SUL on James Bond and British Masculinity. In addition to editing his great-grandfather’s memoirs about growing up in 19th-century Liverpool, he regularly researches and presents on his other areas of interest: the study of unconventional male/female friendships in the modernist period in England, the visual and written representation of mass atrocities and conflict, and the changing nature of work and organisational life in the 21st century.
Dr Meghan Callahan
Dr Meghan Callahan is the Assistant Director for Teaching & Learning. A Syracuse alumna, she received an M.A. in Art History as a Florence Fellow at Syracuse Florence after earning a B.A. from Trinity University in Texas. She holds a Ph.D. in Art History from Rutgers University. From 2006-2008, Dr Callahan was a Kress Curatorial Fellow on the Medieval and Renaissance Galleries at the Victoria & Albert Museum, London.
Her research interests are in the architectural and artistic patronage of the sixteenth-century mystic Sister Domenica da Paradiso, and Italian Renaissance sculpture. She has published in The Sixteenth Century Journal, Renaissance Studies, and The Burlington Magazine, as well as in various collections of essays; including the recent book dedicated to emeritus professor Gary Radke of Syracuse University.
Marco, our Assistant Director for IT & Operations, holds a B.Sc. in Computing (Software Engineering Pathway) from the University of Westminster. He has previously worked in various IT roles ranging from web and e-Learning developer to Team Leader in both the finance and education sectors.
He is bilingual (English and Portuguese) and in his free time, Marco enjoys retro gaming, classic horror movies and music.
Nada, our Assistant Director for Programming and Student Life, holds a BA and MA in International Relations from London’s Hult International Business School. Lebanese by heritage, she was born in Sierra Leone and grew up in California. She began university in Lebanon, but left during the 2006 war, moving to Dubai and eventually to London to complete her studies. Since then she has worked in the UK Higher Education sector at three different universities. She is keenly interested in identity politics: the relationship between who we think we are and how the notion of nation, state, culture and tradition play into that.
She also enjoys film, baking, photography and football (come on you Spurs!).
Fiona joined our team as Finance Manager in 2017. She comes to Syracuse with a background of 25 years in Finance Management. Originally from London she was educated in the Middle East and Africa and settled in Hampshire on her return to the UK.
Fiona has in recent years worked at a fine art and antique auction house and at a property management company. She is looking forward to working at Syracuse London returning to the education field where she originally started her financial career in.
Outside of work Fiona enjoys her love of music playing in an Irish Band and learning new instruments when time allows as well as volunteering at a homeless charity.
Jovita, our Academic Excellence Coordinator, joined us in October 2015. She graduated from Hult International Business School with a BA in International Relations with a concentration in Gender Studies. Born in Lithuania, she moved to Chicago at the age of 14, and has now been living in London for over 10 years.
Jovita is passionate about learning from all that this multicultural city has to offer, especially regarding diversity and inclusion. In her spare time you can often find her at various public talks around London. She also enjoys spending time outdoors; most weekends are spent escaping the city to hike and enjoy the beauty of Britain’s smaller towns and villages.
Eugenia Francis is the Registrar for Syracuse London. Born in Dominica, West Indies, but a long time London resident, Eugenia has worked for Syracuse since 1986.
Stephen is our Programming Coordinator. He attended Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU) for his Undergraduate degree, where he completed a BSc (Hons) in Psychology (Sport & Exercise Science). He then continued his education at CCCU and obtained a Post Graduate degree in Education (PGCE) specializing in Sport Science. Over the past 6 years he has been teaching and managing courses in secondary education.
He is a keen sportsman who plays competitive football and rugby, he is also a qualified gym instructor.
Dan is the Housing and Special Programs Coordinator and joined Syracuse London in April 2018. He has a BA from the University of Brighton in Education and English Literature and is currently working towards an MSc in Education, Power and Social Change at Birkbeck, University of London.
Dan has worked in the private education sector within the UK since graduating in 2014. He is very much interested in access to education within the UK and the imbalances within the UK state education sector.
In his spare time, Dan likes to go to the cinema, theatre and enjoys exploring Europe!
Lisa, our Health and Wellness Adviser has a BSc (Hons) in Behavioral Science from the University of Glamorgan and MA in Social Work from Cardiff University. She has worked within the specialist field of sexual violence and has supported victims of sexual assault and rape within a forensic setting. Lisa has a Post Graduate Certificate in Systemic family Therapy and has used her skills to work therapeutically with clients of sexual violence.
As an educator, Lisa has delivered a wide range of educational Health and Social Care courses throughout the UK. These courses are aimed to assist practitioner’s knowledge and practice of working within the Social Care workforce. She has a research interest in developing our therapeutic response to victims of sexual violence.
In her spare time she enjoys mountain biking, walking, London food and socializing.
Julia, our Human Resources Manager, graduated from Loughborough University in 2014 with a BSc in Geography. Since graduating, Julia has worked in recruitment and training operations and has completed her Level 5 CIPD Certificate in Human Resources Management.
Julia loves music – particularly live music and regularly attends concerts and gigs with her family and friends. She also enjoys art, fitness, baking and travelling – in 2016 she spent three months travelling across America.
Rohan is our Facilities Manager who joined in November 2015. He has over 25 years in Facilities Management experience within Housing Management, Banking, Local Council and the Serpentine Gallery. He has BIFM and IOSH membership.
Rohan enjoys Napoleonic re-enactments, English history and cycling into work.
Marius is our Facilities Assistant and has been working at Syracuse London since May 2015. Born in Romania, Marius attended art school and is also qualified as a wood carver and electrician. Marius works in a wide range of DIY tasks at Faraday House.
He enjoys playing tennis, running and kart racing.
Becca is our Internship and Community Relations Manager. She began working at Syracuse London in September 2017 as she was finishing her PhD at King’s College London, where she explored environmental politics in the Middle East and North Africa. Originally from the US, Becca moved to the UK as a Marshall Scholar and has been passionate about student opportunities in Europe ever since.
Becca loves hiking mountains and deserts around the world, swimming in oceans and lakes, and baking cookies en masse.
Omer joined the team as Receptionist in 2017. Previously, he has worked in various customer and visitor services roles in companies as diverse as Hamleys Toy Store, The Royal London Hospital and The National Gallery.
Omer is a huge fan of Def Leppard, 80’s cartoons and the films of Steven Spielberg. He also enjoys running, working out at the gym and travelling.
Emily joined the team as Receptionist in 2017. She has recently completed a BA in English Literature and Language at King’s College London, and is now studying an MA in English at King’s. Emily has previously worked in hospitality and catering- she can make a burrito in 90 seconds!
In her spare time, Emily loves running, skiing and going to the theatre. She also loves travelling to new and exciting places: her most recent destinations include Vietnam, Romania and Japan.
Sallie joined the team as Receptionist in 2017. Originally from Australia, she moved over on a working holiday visa to explore more of Europe! Previously she has worked in Pharmacy but decided once in England to pursue a different career and ended up at Syracuse London.
She plans on seeing as many countries as she can while living here with 21 already visited and trips to Norway, Sweden and Ireland also planned.
Gokulna joined the team as Receptionist in 2017 and comes from a vast background of front of house experience.
As a plant enthusiast in her spare time, Gokulna enjoys caring for her indoor garden, propagating succulents and occasionally growing vegetables. She also loves long walks, yoga and photography.
