Frances Smith (ETS360/FIL300/QSX/WGS400 James Bond, Sherlock Holmes & British Masculinity)

Frances Smith completed a PhD in Film and Television Studies at the University of Warwick, where her research explored the construction of gender and class in the Hollywood Teen Movie. Her current work explores the construction of transnational British masculinity in contemporary British and Hollywood cinema. Alongside multiple publications in the area of gender and contemporary Hollywood cinema, she is co-editing, with Professor Timothy Shary, a volume of original essays on the work of director and screenwriter, Amy Heckerling. Frances teaches Film, Media, and academic skills at the universities of Winchester, West London and Warwick respectively. fsmith@syr.edu
