London is one of the most diverse cities in the world, and we want you to have the chance to meet people outside of Syracuse London while you study here. We have teamed up with University College London (UCL) to provide our students with the opportunity to mix with their British and international counterparts as well as local communities by becoming a member of the Students’ Union UCL.
There are plenty of opportunities to make new friends, explore passions and interests, and connect with a wide range of students through Students’ Union UCL. These include 200+ student-run clubs and societies, a fitness centre, cafes, bars, rehearsal spaces, and more.
Syracuse London covers the cost of a visiting 3-month membership fee for all of our students; they simply need to sign up during our Arrivals & Orientation program. Students will need to cover their costs to join a specific club (some have a fee to support special equipment or trips). These fees, and the benefits of joining the clubs, are detailed on the Students’ Union UCL website: http://studentsunionucl.org/content/clubs-and-societies.
Unfortunately, Syracuse London students are not able to represent UCLU in a competitive sport (unless approved by the Students’ Union UCL governing body – see their regulations for full details), serve as officers or in leadership roles in any Club or Society, vote in elections, seek office in the Union of any of its Clubs or Societies, or obtain NUS membership from Students’ Union UCL. However, there are still plenty of opportunities to get involved!
Students will have the opportunity to apply in person upon their arrival in London, just after their academic orientation session on the Thursday or Friday of that week. Simply stop by our programming desk to apply and receive your Students’ Union UCL ID card…be ready to smile for the camera for an ID photo!
If you have any questions about the Students’ Union UCL, see our Academic Excellence & Inclusion Coordinator, Jovita Adom, in Room SR101.
