Fabrizio Ballabio (ARC 407/408 Architectural Design)

FABRIZIO BALLABIO (b. Italy) is an architect and writer based in London. He graduated in Switzerland at the Academy of Architecture in Mendrisio (AAM) and received his Masters with Distinctions at the Architectural Association in London (AA) where he currently teaches in the History and Theories Studies. In practice, Ballabio has collaborated with multiple European offices amongst which Valerio Olgiati (Flims), Pascal Flammer (Zurich) and more recently 6a architects (London). As scholar, Ballabio conducts research in architectural history, particularly focusing on late baroque Southern Italian architecture. He has recently lectured on this and other subjects at the AA, the École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A), The Barber Institute (University of Birmingham), the Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II, amongst others. He is a regular contributor of the academic journal AA Files.

Ballabio is the co-founder of åyr, a London based art collective exploring the complex evolution of domesticity in the post-internet city, and part of the online research platform on industrial architecture, Factory Futures.
